Medhaj News: As the results of bypoll counting in Rajasthan came to a close, Congress candidates registered win in three out of the four Assembly constituencies, thereby reflecting that Modi magic failed to work in favour of the party this time like it did in the Lok Sabha polls.

As the results of bypoll counting in Rajasthan came to a close, Congress candidates registered win in three out of the four Assembly constituencies, thereby reflecting that Modi magic failed to work in favour of the party this time like it did in the Lok Sabha polls. Congress candidates Shrawan Kumar, Bhajanlal and Ramnarayan claimed victory in Surajgarh, Weir and Nasirabad Assembly seats, whereas only one candidate of BJP, Sandeep Sharma, could manage to win the Kota South Seat. Sharma won with a margin of 13,212 votes.

The bypolls were necessitated after the sitting MLAs - Sanwar Lal Jat (Nasirabad), Om Birla (Kota-South), Santosh Ahlawat (Surajgarh) and Bahadur Singh Koli (Weir) - resigned from the Assembly following their election to Lok Sabha.

Reacting on party's victory, Rajasthan Congress Committee chief Sachin Pilot said,"It is a phenomenal success for Congress. I salute Rajasthan voters. It is the result of hardwork of our party workers."

The by election was on Septermber. The counting of votes were done in 4 district headquarters of Jhunjhunu, Ajmer, Kota and Bharatpur on Tuesday.

In 2013 assembly polls, Congress suffered one of its worst defeat and managed to win just 21 of 200 Assembly seats while BJP won 163. It also won all 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
