Medhaj News: Questioning the US-Led anti-ISIL coalition Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokeswomen Marziyeh Afkham said on Wednesday September 17th that - “according to the international law, the legal nature of the coalition is in serious question as the coalition has been formed outside the United Nation mechanism”
Severely criticizing Washington’s bid to build global support for military action against the ISIL, the spokeswomen said “The goals announced by the US-led coalition’s in the fight against terrorism are inconsistent with the previous and ongoing measures taken by its founders and some of its members.”
She also said “Countering terrorism requires political will and avoidance of double standards rather than massive coalitions and media propaganda campaign.”
Afkham also expressed regret that certain members of the coalition have had double standard approach towards terrorism.
Earlier Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei had also dismissed as “absurd, hollow and biased” the announcement of US-lead anti ISIL coalition.
Ayatollah Khamenei also questioned the intentions of US officials, mentioning that the main objective behind the US plan to wage a war against ISIL is to “have increased military presence in the region.”
The Supreme Leader appreciating the Iraqi resistance against the ISIL said “The battle that occurred in Iraq and broke the backbone of the ISIL was not achieved by Americans, but it was done by the Iraqi people, army and popular forces. The American themselves, as well as the ISIL, are aware of the reality”
The Leader had mentioned earlier on September 4th that “the terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda and the ISIL have been created by the West and its regional proxies.”
He also added that “Although, the Western countries, particularly the US, claim that they have nothing to do with these groups (al-Qaeda and ISIL), there is ample evidence suggesting that these movements have been fabricated by Western powers and their regional elements.”
