INDIAN RIGHT WING MEDIA: LET’S GO TO WAR WITH CHINA

Medhaj News: At a time when, Prime Minister Modi has just conducted a successful one to one deal with Chinese Premier Xi, when both emerging giants of Asia have decided to co-operate in trade, manufacture and a number of other sectors, the war mongering right wing Indian media is once again trying to give a sectarian twist to the new chapter of Indo-China friendship and bi-lateral relations.

In 2012, Premier Xi had made an appeal to PLA to be ready for a conflict with Taiwan, a country protected and nourished by US, which was actually a part of mainland China before the Chinese Communist Party won a civil war, occupied mainland areas, forcing pro-western Kuomintang to flee and set up base in Taiwan.

Just as India claims Kashmir to be an integral part of the country; China has always claimed Taiwan as a part of its borders; China considers Kashmir to be India’s private affair; and India also sees Taiwan as China’s internal problem.

But US-NATO nexus is afraid of both China and India, as rising economic giants of Asia, who might overtake the west both militarily and in economic terms, in years to come.

So it is the western media, plying the interests of the US-NATO nexus that wants to nip in the bud, growing India-China friendship! Indian media honchos have of-late given up national interests it seems to pursue lucrative dollars that come from tie-ups with US dominated media networks.

The original Xi statement, which all Indian newspapers have carried as signifying a `threat to India’, nowhere mentions India; and the `regional war’ comment is clearly directed at Taiwan.

Also, unlike Pakistan, there are no `hawks’ or `doves’ in China; difference in policy matters exists, but they do not take the form of sabotaging respective agendas.

Also, it is surprising that the same Indian media praising Narendra Modi to the skies before 2014 general elections had no good word to say about the Prime Minister’s success in trying to achieve a thaw in Indo-China relations. The fact that Sushma Swaraj, India’s external Minister, participated in the Shanghai co-operation organization (SCO) meeting on 9th September 2014, also has not been appreciated by the US. The Indian media in fact, completely blacked out the news!

So is Indian right wing media following US interests?

Another interesting bit: Times of India carries a header today on its front page about Chinese entrepreneur Jack Ma, owner of Alibaba, the giant ecommerce firm, of over-taking Mukesh Ambani and becoming Asia’s second richest man!

The subtle China-bashing by the Indian right wing is now too apparent…
