Medhaj News: For a person like me who fumes at stereotypes in the Indian cinema, a film like Khoobsurat fails to be much impressive. However, I have to admit that I did not yawn much, finding the movie lively, if not very interesting. With the leading lady Sonam Kapoor's colourful mix-n-match clothes and accessories, filmmaker Shashanka Ghosh surely infuses in more beauty to the classic royal setup.

The film is quite different from the original Hrishikesh Mukherjee's piece.

Set in Sambalgarh in Rajasthan, the story revolves around vivacious Dr. Mili Chakraborty and charming prince Vikram Singh Rathore, played by Pakistani actor Fawad Khan.

A little exaggerated at the beginning with Sonam Kapoor tumbling down and bumping into everything in a bid to fit in the character of the royal misfit. Quite predictable, the story kicks off well but becomes a little drab towards the end.

As for the actors, Sonam does well at her end. At times, if you are not her die-hard fan, it leaves you feeling too much of her and wanting more of Ratna Pathak Shah and Fawad Khan, who wears a silent yet classy appearance throughout the film. Kirron Kher is the perfect element to add the right amount of humour. Her Punjabi accent, dialogues act will make you adore her, yet again.

Talking about director Shashanka Ghosh, I would say he has done a fine job by effortlessly giving it the look of a Disney fairytale. Yes, the film's script could have been more interesting and unpredictable. But at the same time, I would appreciate him for doing nicely with a highly predictable plot.

Another thing that left me disappointed was the use of actors. With the major screen space given to Sonam, there is not very much left for other, better actors. In my view, the script fails to do justice to Ratna Pathak Shah, one of the two persons I had watched the film for, thus leaving me highly disappointed.

Overall, it's a little above the average film. If you have do not mind watching a formula-based movie, chances are you will like it.

Now a word about the other person I watched the film for. Well, not difficult to guess-Fawad Khan. After all, who hasn't been mesmerised with his magnetic personality and extremely alluring voice. Will say just one thing about him after watching the film-I am glad that at least in the end, he got a dialogue which had, quite unexpectedly, more than two sentences.
