Iran Sends 100 ton aid into battered Gaza!
Medhaj News: Iran and Israel are arch enemies. During the height of Gaza war, Israel sent in a drone plane over Iran’s nuclear facility in Naantez. Iran shot down the drone.
Despite the truce and ceasefire, Israel still retains an iron grip over Gaza. On the other hand, Egypt controls the Rafah crossing into Gaza. During the war, Egypt had closed the Rafah crossing. In fact, several Palestinian activists had accused Egypt of collaborating with Israel.
In the ongoing crisis in the middle-east, currently the most important center of geo-politics where from US to Russia all big powers are involved, Iran and Egypt have not seen eye to eye for a long time. Iran does not like the line taken by Egypt on Israel.
So the statement by Iran Red Crescent Society (IRCS) that Egypt has issued visas to the Iranian team trying to get inside Gaza since 23rd August came as a surprise. Israel and US, its closest ally, have been caught off-guard by what clearly looks to be an new understanding between Egypt and Iran that neither Tel Aviv nor Washington will approve of readily.
IRCS has announced it is sending 35 tons of medicine and medical equipment, 20,000 tuna fish and chicken cans, 700 tents, and 7,000 blankets along with three relief workers.
IRCS also added that Iran has made the necessary coordination with the Red Crescent societies of Egypt and Palestine.
On July 24, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani ordered his foreign and health ministers to urgently forward medicine, medical equipment, first aid, and food stuff for the Palestinian people injured in the recent Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
